Weird Lockups II

I patched my 2.2.14 kernel w/ Andrea's aa7 patch, rebuilt the kernel and
tried again. The system seems more stable than before, I am not getting
random lockups with most things. However, I can lockup my system 9 times
out of 10 by playing audio through an es1370 sound board with the driver
as a module. I have not tried compiling in sound support monolithically,
but I have a feeling the problem is centered around the sound card's alpha
support, or Alpha PCI support, rather than a lower level bug as before.

Anyone able to repeat this problem w/ an Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370?

Also, could someone summarize the main differences in the Alpha arch b/w
the 2.2.x series and the 2.3.x kernels? Have Andrea's patches made it
into 2.3.x? Should we be focusing more on 2.3.x?

System-
AlphaPC 164
21164PC 500Mhz
128Mb RAM
NCR 5c875 SCSI UW controller (4 gig drive, 6x DVD)
Matrox G200 PCI
Ensoniq AudioPCI
3com XL (3c59x)
