dear thorsten and franco,

thank you for your replies. i did exactly the commands that your wrote
but it still doesn't read the tape. the exb 2000 drive just blinks and the
command prompt shows up at once on the monitor. is there any way by which
i can find out if the drive has been recongized. kudzu says that it did
and it configured the device but are there other ways to verify this?
