As sombody else already mentioned: cat /proc/scsi/scsi shows a list of
all detected scsi devices - there should be an entry for your exabyte.
Now once again (this time in exact chronological order):
1) insert an empty tape into the exabyte
2) tar cvf /dev/nst0 /bin # this writes to the tape
3) mt -f /dev/nst0 rewind # rewind it
4) tar tvf /dev/nst0 # now see the tape's contents
You should probably consult your redhat manual about the usage of tapes or
find a newbee mailing list.
