Q: kernel build time?

I hope you'll forgive me, but I'd be much enlighten if someone could
give me a hand wave figure for the time it takes to execute

'make zImage'

on an noname box. (Please specify clock freq).

I'm well aware this is a benchmark on the quality level of bogoMIPS,
dependent on very many factors and not comparable to an Intel box, but
it would give a nice feeling for what some of power to expect.

(For an easy bottom line to beat, my 386sx/16 4Mb notebook takes more
than 2 hours for a minimal kernel.)
