Well, before you all get your hopes up... even though FreePort Express
does produce "Digital UNIX executables", these executables rely heavily
on a runtime system which at present does *not* run on Linux/Alpha.
It could be made to work eventually, but let's just say that it's low
on my priority list. I speak from experience here: debugging such a
runtime system on an operating system that is itself incomplete and/or
possibly buggy is a nightmare. I'd rather concentrate my efforts on
helping to get the base operating system functionality nice and solid
first...
