Most may not be good enough. At least my #9 GXE64 PCI (don't I hate
that "name"??) needs a wakeup sequence just to get it to respond to
anything at all (I understand this is a feature of many PCI-based
cards). It's not difficult to perform that wakeup sequence (it's
documented in the S3 864 manual), but I seriously doubt any two
vendors will pick the same sequence.

It certainly would be nice. And hopefully, it will catch on
eventually.
