Yes thanks.

Just rebuilt the test with -O5 instead of -O2, exactly the same results.

Seems fair enough, except that I wouldn't expect integer operations to call
ANY library functions.....

>So, wait a couple of months before complaining about perfomance.

Nah, not if it is apparent on NT as well.

>Yes, they are cheaper and faster. Why do you think that LCA stands for?

I'm afraid you don't, Alphas cost twice (and some more) a P90.
You only get HALF what you pay for.

According to DEC's advertising they are! and yes I did. If it's slower, why
would any Linux user ant to buy it??

Mmm, People are saying Alpha's on the right motherboard DO perform, but the
boards are 3k.

:-(

Urm Ok. I guess if it's a hobby it's fun, I certainly enjoyed setting up.
However, we're pretty commercial here and were hoping to actualy use the
system.....

>Eh, ofcourse it perfoms badly, its NT .. ;)

Yeeess.

I can live with poor performance due to lack of Linux optimisation, the
point is that everything points to the board still being slow once the OS
has been optimised!

Gareth.
PS; http://alpha.ftech.co.uk/ if anyone want's a look. Seems pretty stable
and if my routing is OK then is should be visible on the net.
