Subject: 1.3.21 patch for pci-based systems
Status: O
Just uploaded the latest 1.3.21-relative patch and a Noname and
Cabriolet kernel. They are all in:
ftp://ftp.azstarnet.com/pub/linux/axp/sys
The names are:
axp-diff-1.3.21-pci.gz kernel-patches relative to 1.3.21
vmlinux-1.3.21-noname.gz Noname kernel
vmlinux-1.3.21-cabrio.gz Cabriolet kernel
There are no new features compared to the 1.3.20 patch, but because
the announcement of that patch hasn't shown up on linux-alpha (yet),
here a quick summary again:
- more ptrace fixes---ptrace should be quite robust now
(gdb-4.14 patches are forthcoming)
- limited support for user-level unaligned faults; caveats:
they are SLOW and unaligned load/stores to/from fp registers
aren't supported; it's just enough to support X-server debugging;
I hope that, eventually, this support can go away again (i.e.,
unaligned faults are bugs that should be fixed)
- minor fix to netdevice.h to ensure things are properly aligned
(avoids unaligned fault in de4x5.c driver)
- added a few missing mb()'s to 53c7,8xx.c scsi driver
- added sys_reboot and (dummy) sys_acct syscalls
Cheers,
