axpbin-emacs-19.29.gz
inc-and-libs.0.35.1davidm.tar.gz
The former is a new emacs binary, the latter a new libc version. The
libc tar file is uploading as I'm writing this and my 14.4 link will
be glowing red-hot by the time its done with uploading the entire
3330808 bytes---so you may have to be a little patient. More details:
o New libc version. I haven't heard from Bob Manson in a while so
I put together a tar file containing the libraries and include
files that I'm currently using. I'm not a library expert and I'd
prefer if somebody else would take over as a maintainer, but in the
meantime, please feel free to send bug-fixes to me. I didn't have
time yet to package up the sources, but they will follow RSN.
What's new in this libc version? There are a bunch of new header
files, mostly to improve compatibility with OSF/1 (DEC Unix). Also,
the siglist and errlist arrays got fixed. So you should now get
correct signal- and error-names. There were various minors fixes
and tweaks, but the only other thing worth mentioning is that the
integer division routines now work properly (and are no longer based
on DEC sources). Unfortunately, they are a bit slower (factor 0.5-9),
but "slow" sure beats "wrong" (no guarantee they are bug-free, but what
I tried so far seems to work fine).
o emacs-19.29 got recompiled with the new libc; the fixes to the
division routines have the effect that it is now possible to
post a follow-up article from within GNUS without having to
fake a "Date:" header---yeeehaa! :)
BTW: I think the ghostview binary that I uploaded is an old binary.
Could somebody let me know if zooming into a document or changing the
magstep works? If not, it's an old binary and I'll upload a newer,
working version.
