I have been using an old NE2000 clone with 1.3.28 on alpha - so far no problems
with telnet and ftp. I did no thorough testing because there were other, more
important things to fix (I recompiled nearly everything with gcc 2.7.0 and
david's new lib 35.2 since neither the versions from blade nor the ones from
grocne seemd to work with 1.3.28 - now the system seems to work stable).

BTW: GNU sed 2.05 failed with a memory fault when running configure from the
GNU textutils ... sed 1.18 works fine.

Has the SCSI tape driver been fixed since 1.3.28? In that version, it needed
defines which were in the asm-i386 includes, but *not* in the alpha ones.
