Well, I ran into this at least a couple of times during my initial X work,
bringing up the XF86_S3 server; in particular, I believe, while attempting
to build twm.

The symptom was always leaving something undone at the *ends* of lines,
rather than the beginnings, though...

Is there a sed 1.18 alpha binary available anywhere for ftp? :-)
