Buy the cheap one. The Unix version comes with the OS and its licence.
The WNT board has no OS included, just the ARC firmware to load it from
a Microsoft CDROM.
MILO today allows you to load linux using a link option on the
motherboard effectively bypassing ARC. We are working on booting
from ARC and avoiding having to switch the link.
You do not need OSF firmware to run Linux on this platform.

Subj: AXP pci33 166 Mhz, linux & Win NT firmware?
Hello,
I don't know if this is the right place to ask, but anyway here
is my question (if it's the wrong place, then please give me a pointer):
After having read the linux-alpha FAQ, I'm still a little
confused. Should I go for the AXPpci33 166 Mhz with OSF firmware,
or should I buy the same board with the NT firmware ?
As far as I can see, it is much cheaper to buy the board
with NT firmware, opgrade the firmware with downloadable
oSF firmware from DEC or even better with MILO.
Is there something I've missed, or isn't this the cheapest
way to run Linux on an Alpha Board ?
BTW, are there any problems in running linux on the 233 Mhz board
- except from the price ? :-)
