mkswap & df & bootimage

I installed Linux with BLADE_0.2 on an AlphaPC AXP 150 (JENSEN).

I wonder if there is a mkswap included in BLADE_0.2. I found a
swapon but no mkswap. Maybe this should be included?

df only gives the free space on a second mounted filesystem like
/home or /cdrom
it won't give me the free space of the root-filesystem. Why?

Finally I reconfigured the 1.2.8-kernel and recompiled it to support
networking. I got a vmlinuz-kernel with 1.6 MB size.
Afterwards I tried a make boot, but somehow there seem to be none or
no right include-path set.

Is it possible to make a bootimage without this /arch/alpha/boot-directory?
