I've been trying to make Linux/AXP to boot. While this seems like a FAQ,
the information on various documents are incomplete and maybe not up to date..
I succeeded to compile BLADE_0.2 kerneltree and make a bootable floppy
with 'cat tools/lxboot tools/bootlx vmlinux >/dev/fd0'. The 1.2.8
version of makeconfig asks if I want to build kernel to be booted from
floppy or from harddisk, but 1.3.xx kernels I've tried don't care about
the boot device. Is this the case?
I haven't been able to make bootable floppy
from 1.3.xx kernels, altough they compile just fine. What is the correct
procedure? I know that it needs a valid bootblock (like tools/lxboot) and
then a secondary bootloader. Now which should I use and how? Aboot,
tools/bootlx or the bootloader found in arch/alpha/boot? Which one of these
supports compressed kernels? I use EB64+ with SRM.
Secondly, I couldn't fine any info on cpboot, e2writeboot and aboot. Sources
and any kind of documentation on usage would be nice.
