Hi,

I report some of my recent experinces on compiling g77 and
would like to have any advice from someone who is willing to
inform. Afterall, I must confess I am a beginner.

I noticed gcc-2.7.1 patches available in ftp.azstarnet.com,
which has been used to compile gcc-2.7.1 successfully now
by using RedHat-Linux environment. This also enabled me
to compile g77 and f77, but it does not work properly,
which is also understood from the following messages:

# f77 -O -o run pro.f
f771: warning: configuration: REAL, INTEGER, and LOGICAL are 32 bits wide,
f771: warning: and pointers are 64 bits wide, but g77 doesn't yet work
f771: warning: properly unless they all are 32 bits wide.
f771: warning: Please keep this in mind before you report bugs. g77 should
f771: warning: support non-32-bit machines better as of version 0.6.

So, I went through compiling f2c which was easy by
RedHat Linux, but this does not work as well, because
of emitting core. I checked fort77 and f2c in ftp.redhat.com
both of them do not work properly.

My g77 works as the above warning states for 32 bit programmes
that is very restricted.

Must we wait another months for g77-0.6.?? ? to get proper
Fortran compiler working under Linux ?
