At this moment I finished uploading my SVGALib stuff for Jensen type Alpha AXP
boards to ftp.azstarnet.com (into the incoming directory). Please wait a bit
for it appearing in /pub/linux/axp. I advised the system administrator to
create
a new subdirectory named 'jensen' in order to separate it from the other stuff.
Be careful while using the software! I post the file 'README.Jensen' here,
because it contains some important notes on how to use the software, but you
can download it from ftp.azstarnet.com, too, if you want.
'README.Jensen':
------------------------------------------------------------------->8===========
Hello Jensen-Folks!
===================
******************************************************************************
Please read this README carefully before using my software!!!
Install 'svgatext.1.0-jensen.tgz' first of all packages and
start it with e.g. 'SVGATextMode 80x50'. Otherwise SVGALib-
based software will corrupt your VGA-font!!!
******************************************************************************
This is a README-File for the following files uploaded by Stephan Kanthak
to ftp.azstarnet.com on 18th January 1996:
gif-jensen.tgz
ls-color.tgz
mpeg_play-jensen.tgz
pov.2.2-jensen.tgz
svgalib.1.2.10-jensen.tgz
svgatext.1.0-jensen.tgz
workbone-alpha.tgz
zgv.2.7-jensen.tgz
Please note, that this software is BETA, sometimes even ALPHA, because I
had only time to do fast hacks. The only thing which seems to be more or less
completely ported is SVGALib 1.2.10 (except vgagl which is unportable to
Jensen in my opinion). To everyone who wants to compile programs with my
SVGALib: try to get at least libc 0.35.3, otherwise your programs will
always crash (by the way, I feel not responsible for any damage to your
machine when using my software).
All software packages should be depacked from the root directory of your
linux system.
The mpeg-player does only understand the following command line:
mpeg_play -dither gray256 <mpeg-file>.
SVGALib must be configured to S3! Remove all (!) old versions of SVGALib
or at least its configuration files and static libraries. Otherwise you
will probably watch unpredictable behaviour of your system when starting
my software.
POV-Ray does __no__ clipping when being in display mode, so do not
raytrace pictures with larger resolutions than 640x480. Of course you
can add option +V on command line to raytrace larger pictures without
viewing (this povray has a new sqrt-function and is approximately
two times faster than normally!!!!).
Type 'SVGATextMode -s' to get an overview of all possible text modes
(most of them do not work correctly!!)
===============8<---------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you have fun with these software packages,
Stephan
