Your not alone :)
I have three different Dats, including Archive.
None work. and On IRC (Efnet #linux) there has been alteast 20+ other
people with the same problem, all different controllers.
using Tar, it seems to be working, just when it looks like it's going to
finish, scsi controller timeouts out, and if your in X it hangs the
system, in console prints the timeout, and you have to shutdown. I've
tried it with NCR, with alot of different adaptecs, 1540cards work tho ;)
I've talked about it many times on Adaptec list, but no one knows why it
doesn't work, and I can't find it. I've also tried the backup program
that comes with Redhat/caldera package, it locks up too.
strange thing is back with 1.3.15 it worked, with my adaptec 2742T, but
I've since upgrade and deleted that kernel cause alot of other
improvements. at that time I did try to go thro the code. I noticed some of
scsi tape and scsi code changed, but I couldn't get it work. hopefully
before 2.0 is released someone will solve this problem.
