And I'll probably start referring to it as a UDB when I get a replacement
front panel that says UDB, and when the DECdirect catalog starts having
listings of UDB boxes, which should be at least slightly cheaper than normal
Multias since they won't come with an NT license. And when I can get tech
support and service for a UDB.
Seriously, I've tried referring to UDB and no one (other than those on this
list) knows what the heck it is.
IMHO, this situation seems analagous to the bad old days when DEC didn't
want to acknowledge the existence of Unix on PDP-11s and VAXen. They
probably would have been delighted back then if people had decided to call
the machines by some other name, in order to help them continue to disavow
the existence of portable operating systems.
