upgrade to something newer than BLADE-0.3

I'd like to but I am too short of time to perform a full reinstall.
Could I `rather safely' keep my BLADE_0.3 kernel (including its
version for <linux/*> and <asm/*> headers files) and BLADE_).3 gcc,
but use your libs/headers version 0.38 or 0.39 for compiling ?
By `safely' I mean that I'd like to get binaries which I can test
with some chances of success when running the BLADE_0.3 (orignal)
kernel.
