first off all, thank you very much for these utilities. They will save
me lots of time. I will try them soon.
However, by looking at the kernel patch, I assume that the Kernel you
supply lacks (scsi) tape support. (This seems to be true for most of
the supplied generic kernels from other sources as well). Adding tape
support would allow a much more efficient installation of
distributions that were gotten via ftp. For the time being, in order
to avoid shuffeling lots of floppy disks, I use a spare hard drive to
tar the files onto, and extract them to the filesystem. Having tape
support would make things much easier.
My hope would be, that in the future more generic kernels would
include tape support. (I guess other people would love to see network
support and NFS, which would certainly be nice if it is possible to
fit this on one disk.)
