"make boot" should work ( it create vmlinux.gz in arch/aplha/boot/).

I heared from manabe, one of the auther of tulip.c, that current tulip
driver is not alpha compatible yet, so it may causes error.

BTW.

"make boot" use quickstrip to strip the kernel, though, for me, strip
also work. I myself use "make vmlinux; strip vmlinux; gzip vmlinux; cp
vmlinux.gz /vmlinux.gz" instead of "make boot".
