Help!!!
I'm doing a diploma thesis (Tanenbaums minix on Alpha)
Tried to running Linux-Alpha on Digitals AlphaStation 255 and took an disk image
(Milo and XL kernel) from RedHat (3.0.3).
-----------------------------------------
>>>boot dva0
block 0 of dva0.0.0.0.1 is a valid boot block
reading 612 blocks from dva0.0.0.0.1
bootstrap code read in
base = 1f2000, image_start = 0, image_bytes = 4c800
intializing HWRPB at 2000
intializing page table at 1e4000
ititializing machine state
setting affinity to the primary CPU
jumping to bootstrap code
-----------------------------------------
after this message, the workstation hangs
When I boot with aboot (diskimage again from RedHat)
-----------------------------------------
>>>boot dva0 -flag i
..
aboot: /vmlinux.gz load_ramdisk=1 root=/dev/fd0
------------------------------------------
and take the other disk with the XL-kernel ...
the kernel starts, but it can't find a host adapter NCR 53C810.
It prompts for the ramdisk and hangs too :-(
Hardware: AlphStation 255, 300 MHz, 128 MB, PCI and ISA
Embedded SCSI-Adapter NCR 53C810 IRQ11
Graphics adapter ZLXp-L
NIC Tulip IRQ10
Software: OSF PALcode V1.46-1
VMS PALcode V5.53-5
SRM V6.0-943
Digital Unix 3.2D-1
- Does anyone did a Linux-Alpha installation on a AlphaStation 255?
- Does anyone made a cross compile with Digital Unix and cc?
- Cross compile Linux-Alpha kernel on an intel computer?
Any idea is appreciated :-)
Michael
