Ahh, non-forking fixed, and solved

Just FYI, named pipes and/or syslogd act differently under
redhat-4.1/alpha than debian-1.newest/i386. I wonder if its a difference in
the kernel, or a hack to syslogd, but I was using |/dev/xconsole for
syslogging, and the named-pipe would fill up and then block forever (or
SIGPIPE, whichever, havent figured that one out) on attempts to syslog()..
Anyway, Im all fixed I guess.

Few questions though, is this alpha supposed to eat ram? The logical
conclusion would be yes (new arch, new compiler (basically), and 64 bit code.)
Im using swap like almost all the time, with 32M of physical ram. Anyway,
thanks again for any attempts to help.
