CPU time usage when compiling is no too good, but the compiled code is ok IMHO.
I've compared several (mostly non-FP based) programs both with gcc and DU-cc
long time ago and gcc compiled programs have been only about/less then 10% slower
if I remember correctly.
FP performace problems showed up mainly in using libm, not in complied user code.
