Hi,
as some people asked me, I'll rewrite it in plain ascii ;-) (<- is a
smiling face, if you turn it by -Pi/2)
On my alpha I have to write
boot hda5:vmlinux.gz root=/dev/hda5
but I think you'll have to write hda2. IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) MILO
(MIni LOader) uses hda1, so your Linux-partition uses hda2. If this
doesn't work, go and see in the startup-screen, somewhere you can find
the harddisk-mapping. In the menu where you can repartition your HD...
BTW (By The Way): What kind of error-message do you get?
