isa and lX11

Sorry for those questions, because I'm sure that they are both FAQs,
but I've already searched many hours without finding, and I won't have
any access to my mail in a few days... :-(

Well: when I use "pnpdump" or any program that use isa ports, the error
"bad adress" is returned; so, I can't use my sound card. What shall I
do?
When I compil a program with gcc using the xlib (with the -lX11
option), a "-lX11: file not found" is returned to me! And despite the
fact that the xlib's man files are in the good directory, xman doesn't
detect them...

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help me!
