boot disk error

I have an alpha 200 and downloaded the Redhat5.1's avanti-s.img and
rawrote it.
I use this string to boot "boot dva0 -file vmlinux.gz -flags
"load_ramdisk=1 prompt_ramdisk=1". Is this still a valid string?
Anyway, the bootstrap ended with this error.
VFS: Cannot open root device 08:02
Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 08:02
Am I missing a step somewhere?
