I'm a novice in using linux alpha and I just got a strange behaviour
with a large file (900MB). I was able to create it, but now it is
impossible to access it. Copying the file via nfs cases cp to hang after
approx 400 MB were copied and the status of cp apears to be "D" is ps
(equivalent to "uninteruptable sleep") while the kernel produces the
output
Feb 16 17:23:54 frodo kernel: Unable to handle kernel paging request at
virtual address 0000000002cdf952
Feb 16 17:23:54 frodo kernel: swapper(0): Oops 0
...
Feb 16 17:23:54 frodo kernel: idle task may not sleep
The same problem apears with ftp and split. My system is a ruffian with
512MB running RedHat 5.2.
Does anybody knows what went wrong?
Regards
Thomas
