Does -W,-ev56 help?

Hello,
Please Note: I think -W,-ev56 is the correct syntax. I cannot get to my
alpha box to verify the exact argument.

My question is has anybody bothered to recompiled all of Redhat 5.2
with this option. (also useing the thread option on X and gclib 2.1 and the
new math library) yet? I was wondering if there is enough speed differences to
make it worth my while.

Also I must compile my kernel for 164eb because 164LX will not boot.
Any one seen a fix for this?
