Slow Alpha & Oops on 2.3.40

Hiya,

Good news is that 2.3.40 is (finally) running on an Alpha. Well, more
walking. For some reason it is r e a l l y s l o w.
I don't have figures to back it up, but it feels slower than, say,
2.2.13.
And it gives an Oops on the first time I try to run X. Symptom: Boot-up,
login, type 'startx' -> Oops. Type 'startx' again -> works. Strange.
Anyway, here is the Oops-log for those in the know.

HTH,

Hannes

ksymoops 2.3.3 on alpha 2.3.40. Options used -V (default) -k /proc/ksyms (default) -l /proc/modules (default) -o /lib/modules/2.3.40/ (default) -m /boot/System.map (default)

Warning: You did not tell me where to find symbol information. I will assume that the log matches the kernel and modules that are running right now and I'll use the default options above for symbol resolution. If the current kernel and/or modules do not match the log, you can get more accurate output by telling me the kernel version and where to find map, modules, ksyms etc. ksymoops -h explains the options.
