Hello everybody,

well I'm trying to get a HP 1533C drive workingbut it is not
doing what it is supposed to do :( I'm getting errormsgs while I
try to red or write to the device no matter which tool I use.
Here a part of the /var/log/warn

Can anybody explain this to me? Is this a drive problem or a
controller problem?
The controller is a very early NCR53c810 PCI controller. I'm a
little confused about the diffrent drivers in the kernel sources
and the help files with them. The newer driver never dectected
the card and the older one has an I/O option to tweak that
changed nothing. So where to go from ?

Any ideas? Or is the drive really faulty? It's cleaned and has a
new firmware ... looking like this in /proc/scsi/scsi

Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 06 Lun: 00
Vendor: HP Model: C1533A Rev: 9608
  Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision:
02

Are there known troubles with this controller?

Any ideas are welcome!

Thanks in advance

Steve
