I think you're wrong.
The RTC is _still_ connected to the timer pin on the CPU,
which means it gets a very high priority interrupt, which
is exactly what we want.
IRQ0, where the PIT lives, is the lowest priority interrupt.
In 2.3.47, all vestages of PIT-as-timer will be gone.
