  Greetings.

I am writing to report a bug in the latest version of devfs. I am
currently using kernel 2.2.14, with e2comp-0.4.38 patches and the
latest devfs backport for that kernel version. I have a internal ATAPI
ZIP drive and the bug is really related to the drive. I enabled IDE
floppy support in the kernel.

  What happens is this:

  - I have to put a ZIP disk in the driver before the partition check
made by the kernel. If I do not do this, the ide-floppy driver does
not register itself with devfs and I have no access whatsoever to the
damn drive.

When I boot with a disk in the drive, the kernel says:

When I, for some reason, do not have a disk in the ZIP drive by the
time the kernel does the partition check, I never ever have access to
that drive without rebooting.
