compile problem 2.3.99-pre4 (MAX_MD_BOOT_DEVS), patch included

OOPS..

Seems I included an old patch for this problem. And anyway, I'm not really sure
if the way I attack this problem is the right one, so hold on this patch for
now... Sorry...
