cdrom seek error .. timeout ... rebooting partially works

Here is a clip from my system logs. I am beginning to think that
this may be an IRQ conflict, can someone confirm this and is
there a way around this?

When I reboot the machine I can access the cdrom, and mount it
sometimes, but if I access the cd-rw then I start loosing the
cdrom. Should I just get a scsi cdrom?
