Linux 2.2 sb_card.c, sb_dsp_detect, and Yamaha YMF744B

Hi,

I'm toying around with the sb driver on my Sony Vaio laptop with a YMF744B
sound chip. Since Yamaha isn't forthcoming with any docs, I'd like to see
if I can get sound working in a 16 bit mode using the sb driver.

Glancing through the sb source I noticed that there is a test in
sb_common.c:sb_dsp_detect for "pci == SB_PCI_YAMAHA" but AFAIK it's never
set, since the call in sb_card.c is:
         sb_dsp_detect(hw_config, 0, 0);

Just insmod'ing sb.o with various dma16 parameters doesn't work; it always
goes into soundblaster pro 8 bit mode.

Any hints?

Dave
