Network block device in 2.3.99

Hi. I'm running 2.3.99-pre5 on two Pentium Pro machines connected by
100baseT. Before I installed these I was able to run Tim Bray's bonnie
benchmark successfully over nbd using the 2.3.18 kernel. After the upgrade
(and recompiling etc.), bonnie now runs some of the time, but hangs at
(seemimgly) random different places. I suspect a race. I then noticed
the following suspicious note on Alan Cox's todo list in the "to check"
section:
Network block device seems broken by block device changes

I'm willing to look into it, but I wanted some input on what the status of
nbd is, i.e, is anyone working on it, more details on the problem, etc.
Thanks.
