No, I hadn't tried this, however, upon trying each processor singly in slot
1 I get the same results each time.

The 'kitchen sink' kernel recognizes 1GB memroy and give the only using
960MB message. BIOS sees all of the RAM. Tried the boot sequence with
mem=32Mb, still no luck
