The 54098U8 is the drive giving me headaches on the BP6 HPT366 (actually,
a 52049U4 locks up too).

Is there any workaround or fix for the BP6 HPT366 (other than running it
PIO4)?

If the problem is a timing conflict between Maxtor and HPT366, perhaps
Maxtor could release modified firmware for their drives...
