Can the set_pll be done with timers as a state machine ?

If not can you wake people sleeping in ioctl/read etc and have the read/ioctl
loop also check the flag so the flow is

        read
        sleep
                                error
                                set flag
                                wake
        flag set ?
        set_poll
        goto read loop
