IIRC, Sun machines have a per-MACHINE MAC address, for example; Token Ring
cards used to have admin-defined MAC addresses, at which point all bets
are off. I've seen a handful of cards with NULL MAC addresses, too.

Sending the bootp requests through every card is the remaining choice,
then?
