OK, I cooked up my own elvtune. I set the params to 10000/10000/128. I
run 2.3.99pre9-pre2+quintela, 148MB RAM, dual PII-450, SCSI U2W via aic7xxx.

The performance is *much* better, way, way better.

However, its still not as good as 2.3.51 - my acid test (recording 24
channels of 32 bit audio simultaneously) still failed. I'll run my own
mini-benchmarks and see how the actual numbers compare.

One mitigating factor right now is that following a disk crash, I am
working on only one disk, and thus swap is happening to the same drive
as my audio recording is, which was never the design ideal.
