AT keyboard not present? in pre[89]

Greets,

I have one machine at home, that when booted with
linux-2.3.99-pre[89] hangs during the boot with a
message:
keyboard: Timeout - AT keyboard not present?

Now the wierd thing about this machine, is that in
the BIOS and 2.3.99-pre6 and assorted 2.2 kernels
the keyboard works fine. I haven't tried windows,
'cos it's ear-marked to be diskless workstation, and
I'm currently booting off floppy.
