kapmd gets >93% of the cpu on my idle laptop (after I disabled my
screen saver :-))

The only thing I changed form your patch was the (5* ...) because
the OS MUST poll the BIOS every second and if the BIOS posts an event
that is not picked up for two seconds, it can assume that the OS is
no longer cooperating and do whatever it likes. i.e. if the BIOS
posts a suspend event and we don't pick it up for 5 seconds, the BIOS
my just suspend us after 2 seconds anyway ...
