2.2.16pre7 SMP Crashes

I have two machines running 2.2.16pre7 that are crashing early and often
with 2.2.16pre7. The machines are identical PII SMP machines. Interestingly,
they are much less stable than with 2.2.14.

Unfortunately, I have not gotten an oops out of them. When I see the
machines, they are locked up and dead to the world. I am working on getting
a serial console running, but since both machines are off-site it's
difficult. Anyhow, here is the little Information I have FWIW:

SOYO D6IBA-2 MB
Dual Pentium II 400 CPU
256MB RAM
Adaptec 2940UW On-Board Controller
Intel EtherExpress Pro 100
IP Masquerading (One PPP Modem, One via NetGear Tulip Clone).

The machines were reasonably stable with 2.2.14 (14-70 days between crashes)
but with 2.2.16pre7, they crash within 24 hours.

One machine is very heavily loaded during the day. All of it's crashes have
been during the night or on weekends. It has never crashed during the day
under heavy load. Try and figure that one out...

The other machine is lightly loaded, but it too generally crashes at night
or on weekends when there is no load.

I wish I had an oops message but hopefully I can get one in the next day or
two.
