Re: 2.2.14/APM: Thinkpad 560 can suspend/hibernate only once

Thanks very much for all the suggestions about geting suspending to
work, all of which I tried. Only compiling the floppy driver as a
module did the trick. Any ideas how the floppy driver could mess up
power management (even when I don't use the floppy)?

Without apmd running, the machine suspends or hibernates right away
(so now I don't use apmd). With apmd running, it takes about 30
seconds, while the ThinkPad BIOS generates hundreds of suspend
requests.

Jun 18 20:43:56 kerrera apmd[276]: Normal Resume after 00:00:20 (100% unknown) AC power

/* now I shut down apmd, and it's much quicker: */

Another sticky point is that it doesn't suspend if there's a PCMCIA
card in the socket (which is sort of reasonable). But once it has
failed to suspend for that reason, even ejecting the card does not
allow it to suspend (until a reboot of course). So the power
management is a bit flaky but workable. I'm not sure what the
underlying cause is, but am happy to try and track it down.

Best wishes,

-Sanjoy
