At this point, I think I am going to give up on this topic, since
clearly I must be trying to skate uphill. IA64 will probably ramp very
slowly, so treating it like sparc, alpha, and other "low volume"
processors is probably OK. If IA64 starts to go gangbusters, this will
not be the case,and it will need to be more current here.

Back to NWFS bug/performance work.
