For 2.2.15pre15, I added the following to /etc/modules.conf
alias block-major-8 ppa
add above ppa sd_mod
In direct emails to Ari, he ended up using the probeall directive to
achieve something similar in only one line (always a better mousetrap).
What confuses me is Ari said he was able to get ppa to load the sd stuff in
2.2.* kernels, but not 2.4.*. I've not had any luck in the 2.2.* kernels,
only the 2.0.* kernel.
It might be because I'm running 2.2.15pre15 with ide patches. Maybe
something along the line things got munged there.
But either way, if someone who likes to write stuff for
Documentation/Changes might make a patch to comment on this.
Are there any other, non zip related, drivers that will have this same
issue? I would be surprised to see this change not restricted to zip.
