[2.4.0-test1] oops after e2fsck

If anyone's interested, my 2.4.0-test1 kernel is oopsing at random
places at startup if it does an e2fsck. I have it die most often in
httpd, but it just did it in init too. It looks like a fairly random
oops, and it stiffs the machine (a toshiba portege P300), so no log.
Magic syslock is usually left operating, but not always.

However, it's repeatable. Is anyone e2fsck'ing OK in test1?

 e2fsck 1.15, 18-Jul-1999 for EXT2 FS 0.5b, 95/08/09
         Using EXT2FS Library version 1.15, 18-Jul-1999

At the next reboot, all is peace and light. Doing the e2fsck under
2.2.15 and rebooting to 2.4.0-test1 also keeps it happy.
