After update to kernel vsn. 2.2.16 on a Alpha/Ruffian machine, there are
severe problems with Netscape that are obviously triggered by the kernel, not
the program itself. Netscape doesn't seem to crash in that sense, but seems
to be terminated without notice: it doesn't throw an error message or
whatever. The only notice of a problem is found in /var/log/messages:

These two error messages stem from one unsuccessful start of Netscape. This
behaviour seems to be state-like: typically, after a fresh start of a desktop
session, Netscape works fine, at least on the second attempt. After a while,
this problem will occur (without any relation to Netscape's current
activities). After that, the system will reach a state where it's impossible
to start Netscape until the next session start. Please note that Netscape is
a Tru64 (ECOFF?) binary that runs with some Tru64 support modules. This
support seems to be broken with the currenct kernel (but then I've not idea
of kernel interna...)
